Earth Song Nature Writing

On July 16, Catt Foy will be teaching “Earth Song Nature Writing,” a workshop which helps participants reach a deeper understanding of their relationship with nature.  Writers will learn how to better express this relationship, whether their preferred art be poetry, prose, or even songwriting.  In the workshop, participants will walk and write, sharing the ways in which each approaches the natural world.
Working as a freelance writer since 1981, Foy has written for many different publications.  Her articles have appeared in The Quad City Times, Women’s Edition Magazine, Organic Valley Family of Farms, and others.  She has also written a novel.
It’s no wonder that Foy has led such a varied and successful writing career, given the breadth of her studies and interests.  Foy holds an M.A. in English from Western Illinois University and an M.F.A. in fiction from Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky.  She has studied environmental science and environmental journalism, as well as conservational biology.
The workshop will take place from 1—3pm at the Midwest Writing Center.  The workshop costs Midwest Writing Center members $20 and costs non-members $25.  For more information, visit the workshop’s page on the Midwest Writing Center's website.
