Local writer, editor, and communications specialist, Jane VanVooren Rogers, is holding a workshop and launch party on September 17th.
From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., she will be helping attendees avoid future grammar gaffs and syntax snafus in her “Common Errors in Writing” workshop. From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Ms. Van Vooren Rogers will be celebrating her new poetry chapbook, How to avoid being and other paths to Triumph, with a launch party. This chapbook consists of poems that primarily deal with women’s issues and empowerment. The launch is free and refreshments will be served.
As a professional editor, Rogers has edited books such as ‘Scuse Me While I Kill This Guy (2007, Dorchester), Flax Your Way to Better Health (2011, TSA Press), and When Cancer Strikes: A Personal Story of Hope. Jane also has experience in freelance writing and communications, and serves as a guest columnist for The Dispatch and The Rock Island Argus.
Both events will be held at Midwest Writing Center on the third floor of the Bucktown Center for the Arts at 225 E. 2nd Street in downtown Davenport.
