Poetry slam for poetry month

On April 29, the Midwest Writing Center will be hosting a Poetry Slam and open mic at Rozz-Tox. The open mic will start at 7 pm while the Slam will begin at 8 pm.

A Poetry Slam is a competition held in honor of poets and their poetry. This month, a slam will be held in celebration of National Poetry Month. A Slam is an event which stresses the importance of performance in poetry and puts the judgment of that poetry into the hands of the audience.

The April 29 Slam is hosted by Andrew Ziegler, MWC's 2012 Collins poet-in-residence.
